Conversations with David - 2
Liz: I can't do this, I hate this, I love you. I want to be with you. I am so sad.
D: I am here.
Liz: No, you told me that you are dead. You can't be.
D: I am here.
Liz: What about all those other people from your life? Are you with them too?
D: It doesn't matter, I am here.
Liz: But I was not good enough for you. I should have been a better friend. I am sorry.
D: I am here. I am always right behind you.
Liz: But I want to see you. Why are you behind me?
D: I don't want to stand in your way.
And I can close my eyes and imagine/feel that David is there, a silent presence filling in the empty space, protecting my back and the back of my head. His arms around my shoulders. I never look behind me.
Liz: Thank you.
